Mamma Mia! I will be island hopping Greece in less than 3 months and am SO excited for the food there. Staple Greek foods include olive oil, fish, lamb, bread, and cheeses. Tazaziki dip is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Not only is it a great dip for veggies, but it tastes delicious on a pita with meat as well. Due to the Greek yogurt, tazaziki dip is high in protein which makes it a perfect snack to help you stay full. The pita chips are baked with coconut oil and are a healthier option compared to buying highly processed pita chips.
2 cups non- fat Greek yogurt- I used Fage Total 0%
Juice of 1 lime
2 T. chopped fresh dill
1 T. chopped chives
1 T. cilantro
Zest of 1 English cucumber
Chop fresh dill, chives, and cilantro. Use a zester for the cucumber. Mix these ingredients in yogurt with lime juice. Chill in refrigerator. Serve with fresh veggies or pita chips.
Homemade Pita chips
2 pieces of pita bread- I used Joseph’s Flax Oat Bran & Whole Wheat
1/2 T. coconut oil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut each piece of pita bread into 6 triangles and place on a greased baking sheet. Melt coconut oil in microwave and brush oil onto pita triangles. Place in oven for 10-12 minutes until brown and crisp.
